Do you believe
in ghosts? How about extra sensory perception (i.e., the “sixth
sense”)? Regardless of your beliefs, the following parables will
get you thinking about the enigmas of life…and paranormal activity.
Janice and
Alice were driving on Autoroute 52 to get to their grandmothers
house. As they continued around the serpentine path a crimson Acura
continued to follow them. At first, they simply assumed that the
driver was driving towards a location near their grandmother’s
house. However, the Acura continued to make the same turns as their
car, and moreover the driver would momentarily flash his head lights
for seemingly arbitrary reasons. Was he stalking them? Was he a
serial killer? The mother/daughter duo shifted gears to 3rd
speed and sped towards their asylum: a bastion from the newfound
terror that clutched at their hearts with an iron clad grip.
Eventually, through skillful maneuvering, they arrived at their
grandmother’s house, safe and sound. They immediately informed their
grandmother of the demented culprit and she arrived with her trusty
boom-stick, set on annihilate. Suddenly, a man in the back seat of
their car vaulted out like a terrified rabbit and scampered into the
thicket of the woods. The Acura stopped behind their Honda and the
driver who had pursued them leapt out with his hands up. He
explained to the terrified triad that he had noticed a homicidal
manic in the back-seat of their car, and that every time the killer
arose to stab the females he would flash his head lights to stop the
impending slaughter. He went on to say that he followed them to
protect them, rather than stalk them. Do you believe in miracles…?
A grave-robber
witnessed the burial of a rich young woman. She was placed in her
coffin, adorned with many valuable jewels. The grave-robber planned
to steal her jewels at the stroke of midnight and sell them on the
black market. As midnight approached he lifted the coffin and lifted
the lid. “Thank you for saving me sir!” bellowed the exasperated
woman from the grave. The woman had awoken for a comatose state that
the doctors mistook for death. The grave-robber turned himself into
the police and abstained from crime for the rest of his days…
The curse of
Amen Ra is rarely spoken of today. But about 100 years ago, it was
the talk of the town. Amen Ra was an Egyptian princess who was
killed by the Pharaoh, along with her secret lover Imhotep, for
infidelity. Before they killed her she cursed her sarcophagus with
mystical incantations. Whoever laid eyes on her mummified remains
would die horrifically. Centuries later, a British archaeologist
bought Amen Ra’s sarcophagus to place on display in a museum. The
infamous coffin made the rounds around the village, including the
local church. Many came to bear witness to one of histories finest,
excluding two young women. The ladies claimed that they felt an
ominous presence permeating the coffin and decided to avoid perusing
it. They were wise to do so, for those who saw the innards of the
sarcophagus died mysteriously soon thereafter. Believe it or not,
the sarcophagus was put on display on the Titanic itself, and a week
afterwards the ship sank: serendipity or ethereal influence?
